My cat's temperament is scrapper, and he seems to do just fine, really anything that isn't double KO or coward/peace lover. At the beginning, I suggest to get him paralysis and the quick recovery skill, the name escapes me atm. For endgame, statwise, I suggest a balance of 320 attack and 180 defense.
Ok this question has bugged me for a LONG LONG time and none of the guides out there ever explained their tables properly. But now with some in game experiments of my own with the help of some hacking tools I have finally found the answer! Basically here are the attributes for the Scrapper cat (no skills learned):
