A sci-fi/thriller story centered on a special-ops team that is dispatched to fight supernatural beings.
Civil Unrest in the European country of Moldova has US forces engaging the insurgents however there is a new threat who has decided both are their enemy. This new threat resides in an alternative spectrum that makes them invisible to the naked eye and instant death to anyone confronting them. Locals believe they are Spirits of War but others believe they are superior arms technology fabricated by the Moldova government..
Hero is ultra intelligent that figures out everything in minutes, troops are children trapped in men's bodies, and the regime is a hideous monstrosity. Spectres act like zombies and even though it's supposedly a scientific reason behind it, the explanation is rather idiotic and simplistic. So is it a sci-fi? Not even by a long shot is it a thriller? nah not really is it a mystery? just a little bit is is a mindless action movie? Yes it is is the plot enthralling leaving you for more? Nope, very linear and predictable plot, watching my phone's background was more interesting. Does it leave any meaningful message to resonate in the thing between your ears? I think that thing switched off during the movie I give it a 4 because the picture quality was nice and had some cool CGI's and even though the plot and acting was bad it was not bad enough to just switch it off. Would I be disappointed if I had watched in the theatres and fork out 12Euro? Instant regret! Fortunately it's Netflix so you don't go to watch it at theatres.
The movie might even make sense if you are not Romanian or Moldovan, but that's a detail that is not really important. The plot is pretty standard: American military group, separated by the main force, fighting for survival against an unstoppable enemy. Kinda like Aliens, but low budget.
I thought the acting was fine, the sound and special effects were OK and the story was decent. It had some "Ugh!" moments, in particular the ending and anything that they were trying to say in Romanian/Russian or about the political situation in the "Moldovan War". Lol!
Other than that, it's pretty obvious what is going on and what is going to happen. The only "wait, this could be cool!" moment was when they were forced to relocate. I thought it was going to turn into some sort of complex story. It didn't. My assessment: average action sci-fi.
