The turtles find themselves transported back in time to ancient Japan.
When a magic scepter accidentally transports April back through time to 17th Century Japan, the boys take-off in hot pursuit, cowabungling their way out of the sewers right into Samurai-O-Rama! Now they must battle the evil Lord Norinaga to reclaim the magic scepter that will bring them back below the subways of New York City.
This is by far one of worst movie sequels I have EVER seen. Worse than Son of the Mask, Batman & Robin, Blues Brothers 2000, Exorcist II, and Godzilla's Revenge. I wish I could rate this film -10. This movie is THAT bad. This movie makes Plan 9 From Outer Space look like Star Wars, Manos: The Hands of Fate look like The Exorcist, BIRDEMIC look like The Birds, Troll 2 look like Gremlins. This movie makes the works of Ed Wood look like those of Spielberg.
Where or where do I start with this movie's problems? Well first of all, lets start with the writing, shall we? The dialogue is total garbage and the jokes (oh dear God, the jokes) are some of the most cringy attempts at humor that I have ever seen. If you watch this movie, wear a neck brace to avoid snapping your neck from all the cringing you'll be doing. Pauly Shore, Freidberg and Seltzer, Jamie Kennedy, and Ed Wood all together could've made a better "comedy" than this.
Also with writing, out of all the possible movie ideas and Ninja Turtles characters available, they chose to have the Turtles sent back in time to ancient Japan. No Ninja Turtles villains appear. Just some jackass on a horse and some guy obsessed with his pet bird. The person or people who wrote this script and the studio exec who signed off on it to be made into a film should really think about wrapping their lips around a shotgun and eating a buckshot sandwich.
Yet another problem is the puppets and animatronics. The Turtles look like they were made for a children's TV show, not the third instalment in a successful movie series based off a cartoon. Splinter's puppet looks like they just threw him together and since you never see his lower body, I assume they didn't even finish him.
Overall, this movie should NOT have been released into theaters. With the low-quality puppets and animatronics, lousy writing, stupid stupid STUPID jokes and the tons of wasted potential, this movie should have been a direct-to-DVD release, not released in theaters.
If you see a copy of this movie for sale on DVD or VHS, buy it. Not to watch it, to destroy it. This movie is a disgrace to the name Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I could film a road-killed rabbit and it would be a better film than this. How on Earth this film didn't win every award at the 1993 Razzie Awards is beyond me.
I wish I did have a time machine so I could get last 1 hour and 36 minutes of my life back.
The Turtles still offer great fun in their third outing on the silver screen. More aimed at children than ever, this movie has an interesting story, action, funny jokes and a happy ending. While not as good as the first two, the third movie is very entertaining. Now bring on another sequel.
This third--and, at $30 million, most expensive--go-around gamely attempts to jump-start the viewer's interest with the canny switch of locations (and centuries), but the new recipe can't change the fact that this Turtle soup has grown cold.
Due to Britain's strict policy with regard to martial arts weapons the old VHS of this Turtles movie used several alternative scenes in order to avoid this set of problems in the UK. With the abolition of the BBFC's agenda the movie got released in its uncut version on DVD in Britain. a5c7b9f00b
