The provider has a CME mission statement that includes all of the basic components (CME purpose, content areas, target audience, type of activities, expected results) with expected results articulated in terms of changes in competence
The revised model encouraged accredited providers to focus on CME that linked educational needs with desired results, and to evaluate the effectiveness of their CME activities in meeting those educational needs. The ACCME developed the 2006 Accreditation Criteria in response to changes in the health care environment.
