An important fact is that every living thing in the tropical rain forest is part of numerous food chains. Plants are an important part of the rainforest food web. Herbivores, which are animals that only eat plants, and omnivores, that eat plants and animals, depend on plants for food.
Energy passes from one animal to another as they eat plants or one another. This flow of energy from one living thing to another is called a food chain or a food.
Like all other ecosystems, the food chains in the Amazon have 5 different components: 1. Primary producers These are the organisms that produce the source.
The rainforest has thousands of different food chains. Most animals are part of more than one food chain. For example, anacondas don't just eat birds. They also eat fish, mice, deer, and other animals.
