A disgraced reporter investigates an abandoned luxury hotel where five people mysteriously disappeared sixty years earlier.
The film starts out when 5 people walk into an elevator, but something goes very wrong. The elevator collapses 11 floors and the five people roam around the hotel as ghosts. 60 years later, reporter Buzzy (Steve Guttenberg) and his niece Anna (Kirsten Dunst) are trying to find out the mystery of the hotel. An old lady named Abigail tells them that if they find a belonging of each person on the elevator they will be free from the hotel.
I'm a huge fan of the Tower of Terror ride at both Disney's Hollywood Studios and formerly Disney California Adventure (which is now "Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout!").
What I like this movie better is if only because it has nothing to do with the theme of "The Twilight Zone" whatsoever. I also liked how Disney had kept the story of the ride and try to add something fresh and new with it for the movie.
What also made sense that I liked this movie is because this movie is produced by a person who is a co-executive producer of Stranger Things, which I really like.
I'm also excited for the theatrical film adaptation, I hope it's good, and I'm hoping that it's also better than the TV film adaptation.
I've been a fan of John Franklin since I first saw him in 1984 in "Children of the Corn" when I was 6 years old. I always look forward to seeing any movies that he is in, and this I must saw is one movie he is excellent in. He's a very versatile actor who above being professional, has wonderful verisimilitude in his work. He brings humor and sincerity to his role as Dewey in "Tower of Terror" and without his character and acting skills, this movie wouldn't be the same. It's just a bit sad that this movie wasn't released in theatres. But it's definitely a wonderful movie with a great plot, and even better cast.
No, it was based on the attraction; The Twilight Zone never had a "Tower of Terror" episode. The storyline and characters were created for the attraction.
