3 Apr 2015 1000 cd/m2 of light. Usually when you calibrate a TV, you want a light output at the peak of around 35 foot-Lamberts, which is 120 cd/m2. With High Dynamic Range For non-HDR content we still want to target 35-40 ftL of brightness, but we can now have very bright highlights that look more realistic.
A foot-lambert or footlambert is a unit of luminance in United States customary units and some other unit systems. A foot-lambert equals 1/? candela per square foot, or 3.426 candela per square meter (the corresponding SI unit). The foot-lambert is named after Johann Heinrich Lambert (1728–1777), a Swiss-German
I just wonder to wich target I should calibrate my screen to use it with resolve, can't find anything in the manual D65 or D55? Gamma? 2.2? 2.4? Luminance? 160cd/m2? 130 cd/m2? thx, The latest dope is that SMPTE rec709 is really aiming at 30 ftL, which translates to roughly 100 candela, or 103 nits.
The character size for above 34 cd/m2 (10 ftL) should be. 4.2.3 Visual environment. Display legibility is highly dependent upon the ambient lighting environment in which the display is located. The display should always be tested under all illumination environments (normal and emergency) in which it is intended to be used.
Luminance. Luminance is a measure of the power emitted by a light source in a given direction per unit area per unit solid angle. In other words, luminance is the amount of light that passes through or is emitted from a particular area within a given solid angle. The SI unit for luminance is candela per square meter (cd/m?).

25 Mar 2013 The US unit of luminance is the Foot-lambert or ft-L whereas the SI unit is Candela per Square Metre or cd/m2. 1 ft-L equals 3.426 cd/m2. . is 16 ftL a better target? I became curious about this recently because I got a new 75? LCD/LED, and I followed the usual recommendation of 30-40 ftL for peak white.
