After years of dreaming, I'm finally set on buying a BRZ. I've never driven a manual car, but I feel like I would regret buying an AUTO. How
Jul 17, 2017 I think my big thing is letting off the clutch waaaaay too slow for fear of stalling, but I'm sure it'll speed up with practice. So should I just bite the bullet? Stick with automatic? It'll be a daily driver, but it's mostly highway. They only have one left in black and I have no idea how often cars get restocked.
Nov 1, 2017 Apparently they're going to change the law so that if you do your driving exam on an automatic car, you will still be able to drive manuals. I think this speaks to the fact that the writing is on the wall and it's not realistic anymore for many families to have manual cars available for their kids to get a full driving
I have a DSG GTI that has paddle shifter but I can also shift the shifter over to the right and put it in manual mode and shift with that. So
It's not a terrible process, learning stick, it sounds like your mom might make it a little more difficult. All my dad did was laugh at me and sit in the car because he had to for my driving permit. I did it, I went to the dealer they wouldn't let me test drive it because I said I had no experience in driving manual, fast forward a few hours later and I stalled quite a few times trying to do laps around the parking lot of the dealership to get down the basics and drove home then a week later drove 1,000 miles
I have very unreliable friends so learning on their cars or having them drive a car for me are out the window. I'm looking at cars on craigslist
What would you recommend for me? Does it seem like I would enjoy the manual from the driving experience that I enjoy and that I've described above? Should I just take the plunge and get the Camaro with the manual and force myself to learn it? Or any other recommendations? Thank you. 143 comments
My first driving experience was on a manual. I learned the basics, and could get around - but I was far from smooth. 15 years later, for whatever
Clutches in performance cars typically give you about 80K miles, if you buy a slightly used mustang, with lets say 30-40K miles, you have 3-5 years to worry about the clutch, and in many cases if the clutch fails you can get a new one put in, and sell the car saying "just had a brand new clutch fitted" and this
