Hey guys, I just got a JCM 900 4100, My problem is that it has three new JJ 6L6GC's and 1 old Sovetec 5881, when I first checked the bias using a bias probe it was at 58 ma so I set it to 38ma at around 487 volts, I was told would be ok and the 5881 started glowing red and obviously cooked. I just ordered a new set of JJ's
26 Jan 2012 Hi everyone I'v picked up a Jcm 900 4100 100w high gain dr, and i'v ordered a new set of 5881's for her. I'v recently So the plan is to follow the instructions Enzo mentions in Post #2 - "set the bias VOLTAGE to about -50v" (intersection of R26 and R27 - that is shown on the schematic). I guess this is ok
Okay, so according to the Eurotubes guy, I can skip measuring the plate voltage and use 470 plate volts for a JCM 900. So after plugging it in to the formula, I would need a bias setting of around 37mA. So, I plug in my bias probe, turn the amp on in standby, let the tubes warm up, put my multimeter in

26 Aug 2006 Note that these instructions assume that your amplifier is biased by applying a negative voltage to the control grids; cathode-biased amplifiers cannot be adjusted .. 28 Mar 2007 Thats what they look like in the marshall, well sorta, but they are black and it will be standing straight up on the circuit board. 27 Dec 2012 hello all! just recently joined so im a bit new on here. just biased a jcm 900 100w combo with new 5881/6L6wgc sovtek valves and the amp is all well as a novice with electronics I'm not just gonna start poking around without some knowledge. can anyone guide me on how to recognize pin numbering?
