Note that in the tutorial he says that you can't place any block 4 blocks away, this is isn't true, it's 2 blocks.

How to Find Iron in Minecraft. Iron can be used to create a variety of items in the game and is very useful. Thankfully, it is also fairly common! Here are a few quick tips on how to find iron ore in the game. Get yourself a stone pickaxe.
Choose a good location. Don't build it far from your home or main base, because you want the golems to spawn even when you are not at the farm.
