3 Apr 2016 Turned out, with the Steep-to-Convert method advised in the instructions, it ends up being very similar to a mash (in fact, with steeping at 152F for 45 minutes I'm not really sure how it is not just labeled MASHING) Really, it's the same thing as the brew in a bag method that I did on my first 3 brews.
10 Jan 2011 I am going to brew a witbier kit from brewer's best and I thought I would be steeping the grains, but the kit has these instructions in an insert If you are to add malt extract as well, it would be a partial mash. By using the term, "steep to convert", Brewers Best is telling

I'm trying my first "intermediate" kit by Brewer's Best and it calls for steep to convert process (at temperatures between 148-152 degrees but never higher than 155). Being that I I always wait 5 minutes after getting the grain wet, then make sure the average is 148-152 F (exactly like your instructions say!)
