INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR. 12 VOLT POSITIVE GROUND APPLICATIONS. For 12-volt positive ground systems. Compatible with “points style" coils. Do not use “HEI" type coils. Read all instructions before attempting to install 1. Turn the ignition switch off or disconnect the battery. 2. Remove the distributor cap
Great Plains Aircraft Supply Co. 12V COIL INSTALLATION. 1. Install coil in a position so that you can direct cool air over the coil. The preferred place is on the firewall. You may have to make up a longer coil wire for this. This wire is available at any auto parts store. It is very important to keep the coil cool. 2. An external coil
Older-model cars used the 12-volt ignition coils to provide power to the spark plugs. These coils had very simple wiring. They usually required only three wires: the spark plug wire, the power wire and the ignition switch wire. Ignition coils of this type are usually a little larger than a soda can and are heavy because of the

the coil primary resistance is less than 3.0 ohms. 5. If your Ignition coil has the recommended primary resistance, remove or bypass all external resistors. Page 1 of 4. For Part Number: 1142P12 & 1143P12. DISASSEMBLY. 1. PRIOR TO INSTALLATION TURN IGNITION SWITCH OFF OR DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. 2.
To remove a resistance wire, trace the coil power wire, which was previously connected to the positive coil terminal, back to the fuse block. Bypass this wire with a 12-gauge copper stranded wire. 1. Attach the black Ignitor wire to the negative coil terminal.

Makes no difference if 6 or 12 volt when talking about the correct wiring of coil. Now, I know I'm probably "beating a dead horse" by regurgetating this information that "Old" summarized very well, but I'm simply stating it so more people can really grasp the concept, as this topic seems to come up a lot.
PLEASE FOLLOW WIRING DIAGRAM INCLUDED IN THESE INSTRUCTIONS. ? This FSI Distributor is designed for 12-volt, negative ground only. ? Please do not leave ignition switch on more than 30 seconds without engine running. As with points. & condenser, this may cause coil and module to overheat, possibly
