This is the home page for my GPS-guided model rocket recovery project (last update September 2011). The idea is to have the the rocket fly itself back to the launch pad using a steerable parachute and onboard GPS. At this point I have the “Rev 4" PCB hardware and software working well. The navigation has worked a little

The accelerometers i honestly cannot say if they can take it but i suspect they can , our military has been developing Excalibur a guided 155 mm artillery round that is GPS guided. and has survived a double charge firing (16,000 G`s ) and hit is target within 3 m at a 15 * offset from true aim at 35.2 km distant
30 Sep 2013 Guest blog by Thomas Scherrer of Copenhagen Suborbitals Rocket positioning and height indication using GPS is not a new thing. At Copenhagen suborbitals we have been using GPS units from the very beginning for all our flying projects. But now, Copenhagen Suborbitals can obtain altitude data from
3 Aug 2010 Hackers [Navic] and [K.o.D] have fitted an Arduino Pro Mini and an array of components into an off the shelf rocketry kit to create a guided model rocket, . with a flight plan driven by boost high/coast at apogee (with a 38 mph stall while you read the GPS )in 1986 was a great idea until I got caught. well,
i've been making simple KNO3 powered rockets that go 1km or more.. but I was wondering, can i make one that is GPS guided? (will that be legal as Everything from the Saturn V to ion thrusters to rocket bikes to model rockets with your family. Professional, amateur, theoretical Rocket scientists and
3 Aug 2010 I think an interesting application of guidance would be in the *return* of model rockets. I remember launching a few 3-stage Estes rockets when I was a kid, and in every instance, we never got the top stage back. It went so high that the winds caught it and carried it off. A GPS guided and servo-steered
12 Jun 2011 Fellow CMASS flier Dave Lindbergh has been doing advanced electronics work and field tests in the pursuit of GPS guided rocket recovery. Details at: WVL is defined as (weight of model in ounces) divided by (wing area in square feet raised to the 1.5 power) Some typical values: sailplane 4-6 aerobatic
30 Jun 2011 When the accelometer senses that there is movement it tells the Arduino to move certain servos which moves the fins and changes the rocket't trajectory. I originally had only four On only one of the servo disks cut four holes in the shape of standard sized Estes Rocket motors (A-C). Roll four note cards in
