Here we go again So far evidence shows the 6 speed is slightly faster but in reality they are so close it doesn't matter. Not sure how you "power brake" a manual? test are often faster than BMW specs. when the e46 M3 was released BMW said 5.2 sec. most mag tests got 4.8 ec. This issue has been beaten to death already,,, but I must add my .02- CD posted 0-60 times of 4.1 (lowest to date). Other tests have pegged the
BMW states 4.8 s but Edmunds.com states 5.3-5.5s, this is a huge discrepancy. I tend to believe Edmunds since manufacturers often put a * next to their claims. By today's standards, only cars with under 5s 0-60 time can be considered supercars, is the E46 M3 a supercar?

6 Jan 2002 I have read an article in one magazine and the results were that SMG II was slower than 6 speed manual M3 in ALL kinds of acceleration tests. . HOWEVER, no human can replicate their 0-60 mph times consistently, (without frying the clutch); the SMG can bang-off its 0-60 mph times over and over again.
