We wear these fabrics every day, but the majority of us have no idea what they are—much less how to take care of them. That last point is key, because good fabric is worthless if you don't know
Spandex, also known as Lycra or elastane, is a greater part of your wardrobe than you likely realize. All kinds of garments actually contain at least a small amount of spandex in the fiber content to allow them to stretch and retain their shape. Therefore, it is important that you know how to properly wash and care for it so your
28 Feb 2018 Never use hot water when cleaning, use cool or tepid water for both washing and rinsing. Hand-washing is best to prevent excessive stretching. If using a washer, place the spandex garments in a mesh lingerie bag and use the gentle cycle. Never use fabric softener or dryer sheets.
Synthetics. Polyester, nylon, spandex, acrylic, and acetate won't shrink and will resist water-based stains. Most produce static and may permanently wrinkle in a hot dryer, so dry on low. How to wash: Machine-wash in warm with all-purpose detergent. Tip: Use fabric softener to curb static.
Do not dry clean Spandex unless the label instructs you to (dry cleaning can temporarily swell the fibers, misshaping the garment. Plus, the fibers tend to hold the odor of dry cleaning solutions). NEVER use bleach on Spandex (color safe bleach is okay, as long as the care instructions on your garment do not indicate

I have a new CK sleeveless shirt and the fabric is 95% polyester, 5% spandex. The tag says dry clean only (didn't notice it when I bought it). Do you wash this fabric mix or do you stick to dry
