23 Feb 2014 I do not use Adobe Reader but I would suggest that you consider switching to a better all-around PDF viewer. All other thumbnails for other file types seem OK. I've tried installing another reader - PDF-XChange Viewer. This does create PDF thumbnails in windows explorer but you can only see them when you first open a folder. On a second visit to the same folder the PDF thumbnails turn completely black.

Acrobat DC refuses to persist my decision to open the thumbnails pane after I have closed the program and opened another file. This is HORRIBLY annoying Just dump the ridiculous piece of crap that Adobe Acrobat has become and use the marvellous PDF-XChange Editor. 3 people found this helpful.
