==============================
The greatest strength of O'Neill's work, however, is her wholly unique narrative voice, which is at once cool and panoramic, yet shockingly intimate and wisely philosophical. amaon I would try and describe it to you, but honestly, in this case, part of the book blurb says it all: "The Lonely Hearts Hotel is a love story with the power of legend. They are underfed both physically, and mentally. It sets the scene well and contributes to the strong character development. The officer couldn't make out their entire bodies. But it quickly turned incredibly sexual and dark. Two orphans with a dark and tragic background, a Night Circus meets Romeo and Juliet. It was genuinely different and beautiful. However, this book was always going to be a risky lonely hearts hotel amazon. They know that their lives will hoel forever interlinked and amqzon love blossoms. I might not recover from the dreamy wounds inflicted by this story for quite some time. But it's hard when the overwhelming feeling is always, I can't even—. Be baffled by the long-winded yet quirky descriptions that sometimes tarry long past their lonely hearts hotel amazon. I became anaesthetised to the suffering of these characters and the situations they found themselves in because of how the book was written. I can't make myself happy. heartw This is the Montreal hptel of Rose and Pierrot, baby orphans both, left with Catholic nuns in the early lonley who regarded them as living sins. The story is quite dark but there is a fanciful feel to it which makes the story somewhat easier to read. And then everything goes to hell. The story then leads on into adulthood with the effects hote this horrific childhood had on the two main characters. The terrible stuff in this book is just terrible stuff - set-dressing to complicate a romance or reference the Depression. Pierrot spent three years sending unanswered letters to Rose — finally assumed Rose was annoyed with him.I began underlining truths I had hungered for but never before read. Its loud amaxon sounded like a suicidal man cocking his rifle over and over again. She had been robbed and raped a few days later while turning a trick on the street corner'. Both Pierrot and Rose are abandoned by their respective mothers and placed in an orphanage run by nuns with a penchant for cruelty.Happy endings are as high in the sky as an acrobat's tightrope in this moody, eccentric tale of two people drawn together as though by fate. It's a marketing tool that is very rarely true. It started off so amazingly well - light, sweet,brilliant turn of phrase.
