15 Feb 2009 Elderly releative has what I believe are called "super taps" - the rotating tap hangs from a piller, there's a picture of them here, although they're described as "supper taps": plumbers in twice and neither had any clue how to repair them so eventually I had to replace them them with conventional taps.

To change a washer: Release the gland nut at the top of the tap, Hold the nut and turn on the tap, The water will flow until it is cut off as the automatic shut off valve comes into operation. Push a small screwdriver (or similar) through the nozzle to push out the combined washer/anti-splash device.
DIY Projects - Supatap. Supataps also known as Reverse Pressure Taps differ somewhat from a normal tap in that you can replace the washer without isolating the water supply. Tip When the nozzle is removed don't be tempted to push the pin back in as you will end up getting wet.
