Jan 28, 2016 Unfortunately – again! – Homebrew is not enough to installing LaTeX on a Mac machine, Homebrew Cask is needed: it extends Homebrew just by adding 1 command which allows to a former 'brew' to reach 2593 Casks out there. Hereafter, the installation process for Homebrew and Homebrew Cask.
After a successful installation, please try processing simple test documents, such as latex small2e. If you're looking for a front-end with which to edit files: TeX Live installs TeXworks on Windows, and MacTeX installs TeXShop. In any case, a plethora of dedicated TeX editors are available. Furthermore, any plain text editor
Installation is simple, you can either: Google BasicTeX to download and install it like you would other software on OS X; or do it via the Terminal using brew cask (GitHub). Personally, I prefer the Terminal option for the additional control and piece of mind (and because I love the Terminal), and you can also use cask to install

Jul 13, 2015 Setup. To get this up and running you'll need LaTeX (Windows, OS X, Linux) and Pandoc. Pandoc is available for Homebrew: brew install pandoc . Your favorite package manager probably has Pandoc as well.
Starting from scratch (no LaTeX), you can do the following: Install MacTeX as shown below ([Ref: this link] (tex.stackexchange.com/questions/97183/what-are-the-practical-differences-between-installing-latex-from-mactex-or-macpo)):. $ brew tap phinze/cask $ brew install brew-cask $ brew cask install mactex.
