Sixty-four biopsies (85%) were diagnostic. There was one major complication (1.3%), a tension pneumothorax treated with intraprocedural placement of a chest tube. CONCLUSION: Percutaneous CT-guided lung biopsy is a safe and accurate diagnostic procedure in children that obviates open surgical biopsy in most patients.
Computed tomography guided fine needle aspiration cytology of thoracic lesions: A retrospective analysis of 114 cases. Needle biopsy of the lung uses imaging guidance to help locate a nodule or abnormality and remove a tissue sample for examination under a microscope. In a needle biopsy of lung nodules, imaging techniques such as computed tomography (CT), fluoroscopy, and sometimes ultrasound or MRI are often used to help
Computed tomography (CT)-guided percutaneous needle biopsy (PNB) is a reliable technique for diagnosing thoracic diseases, particularly for assessing lung lesions. Since the first reported use of CT-guided biopsy, fine- and cutting-needle biopsy techniques have improved diagnostic yields and have reduced the risk of
Computerized tomography (CT) guided fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) of lung lesions has rapidly emerged as a less-invasive, cheap, rapid and fairly accurate diagnostic aid in Premedication with midazolam was required in two cases – one elderly patient and the other a child with metastatic Hodgkin lymphoma.
OBJECTIVE. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors influencing diagnostic accuracy in CT-guided automated needle biopsies of lung nodules. SUBJECTS AND METHODS. One hundred thirty-eight consecutive CT-guided automated needle biopsy procedures were performed in 123 patients (124 pulmonary
Jan 7, 2016 Computed-tomography guided percutaneous lung biopsy (CT-PLB) is the technique of choice for the diagnosis of pulmonary lesions and mediastinal We report a case of CT-PLB in a 6-year-old child who developed complications of hemothorax, pulmonary hemorrhage, and aspiration of blood in the
Nov 14, 2013 Fortunately, as indications for needle biopsy have grown, the imaging equipment used to guide these biopsies has improved and the scope of lesions now amenable to needle biopsy has broadened. We are now able to reliably diagnose malignant lung nodules as small as 6 or 7 mm and to sample tumors
