15 May 2009 Anybody know how could I convert a pdf figure into a eps one? Any console command, just like sudo aptitude install ps2eps pdf2ps [file].pdf ps2eps [newfile].ps. It'll probably do something But I dont have the convert package and I can not even find it thru terminal or synaptic. Any further suggestion?
If your system has the appropriate software installed, you can probably view PDF and PostScript files simply by clicking or doubling clicking a file name or file On a Unix system, you can view PostScript and PDF files by issuing the command " ghostview filename.extension &" at the command prompt in a terminal window.
On Linux, and indeed most unix machines (including MacOSX) you can use the command line utility pdf2ps which I believe is part of ghostscript.

It is a simple one line command. if you don't give a output.ps it will keep the input file name and just change the extension from pdf to ps. pdf2ps will convert the files and the file maybe larger and will take longer then pdftops.
To convert .ps to .pdf: Install ghostscript package from Ubuntu Software Center. Open terminal from the dash home or press Ctrl+Alt+T. Run this command to convert a .ps to .pdf. ps2pdf filename.ps filename.pdf. For more about this command, execute: man ps2pdf.
