Star Trek meets The Dirty Dozen in this exciting new Star Trek series about a group of rogues, rebels, and outcasts who find themselves faced with the greatest threat the Federation has ever encountered. With Admiral Chekov (Walter Koenig) heading up Starfleet Intelligence and Tuvok (Tim Russ) a part of Starfleet's clandestine Section 31 organization, they recruit Captain Lexxa Singh (Adrienne Wilkinson) and her rogue crew to do those missions that no one else can or will do. When the Federation is threatened and Starfleet protocol won't work, it is up to this rag-tag group of Renegades to save them all.
Set a decade after the U.S.S Voyager's return to Earth, a rag-tag crew of renegades and outcasts must covertly work with Admiral Chekov and Tuvok to stop forces threatening the Federation from outside, and within.
It has been my experience that most of the Star Trek "fan" films are pretty abysmal. For all intents and purposes, they're just a bunch of fans playing dress up.
Renegades sets the bar a little bit higher and for the most part they succeed. There are enough professionals involved to keep it above the level of most of the other tripe out there. However, the acting is uneven, and the script seems rushed. As a film, it falls short. As a Star Trek fan film it's fairly entertaining.
If you're a Star Trek fan you should watch it, and you might watch it more than once. If you're not a Star Trek fan, then you may be disappointed.
I'm not going to bother with plot synopsis, character assassinations or anything else like that as I'm not a critic. All I will say is this: Probably the worst fan funded 'trek ever. I knew we were in for something bad when Grant Imaharo (myth busters) appeared in the first scene. The man may be an electronics / robotics genius, well he should stick to that because an actor he isn't. Sadly, it sorts of sets the tone from there and it only gets worse. If the actors were any more wooden, they would have spontaneously combusted. Even some of the old faces such as Robert Picardo do nothing to detract from the awfulness of this. Icheb (who 20 years older) is no less crappy in this than he was in voyager. A disjointed, pointless and ultimately futile attempt to re-ignite the franchise. Trek, as we knew it, is dead, Jim. frankly, with abominations like this following in its wake, Gene Rodenberry should be glad trek died when he did.... I tried, I really did but I just found myself losing the will to live with every passing minute. In the end I just switched off and I can wholeheartedly say I shall never return to it... I didn't see the middle or the end and am grateful that I didn't have to endure either of those. Pulling toe nails out would evoke a better emotional response than this turgid turd.... 0.01/1000000000
