A modern retelling of the norse mythology. Fr. Mike (Wes Studi) has hidden a piece of Thor's hammer from Lok-eye, a viking warlock. Lok-eye kidnaps three children every spring and forces their mothers to find his prize. The only one immune to the Warlock's powers is Eric Thornton, called The Ugly One since he was a child. Eric only wants to win The Steel Gloves, an all out fight contest with a prize trip away from the madness. Fr.Mike must convince Eric to defeat the Warlock and save the very people who have treated him so cruelly his whole life.
Eric Thornton has been called The Ugly One by everyone in his town since he was 10. Now he is the only one who can save them from a Viking Warlock searching for a lost piece of Thor's hammer.
I recently attended the Canton, MI preview of The Ugly One.It was Visually stunning. Literally, a heavy metal folklore. The movie pulsates from beginning to end. Writer/Director Patrick Moug creates a world of fantasy and horror set in a small town and steel factory. Utlimately,this movie takes the viewer through a series of journey's. The journey of re-living and moving through the past. The journey of truth and redemption. And the journey of acceptance.
I was impressed with the casting of many local Michigan Actors. The talent was superb. It was well cast and well directed. The film moved quickly from one event to another, leaving the audience waiting for the next revelation.
The Ugly One was a definite piece of beautiful cinematography.
I hope this talented man is making more movies...Pat Moug and the "Ugly One" is one heck of a film... We need more "from the heart" film makers like Moug!!!! I believe the talent pool here, in Detroit, is totally untapped... Pat's vision and his movies need our support.... The effort, emotion and heart in the "Ugly One" is showed throughout the film. I really like the music and the way is flows throughout the movie, as well. I am impressed with Moug's ability to find actors like himself, who make movies for the love of the craft... Moug is helping Police and Firefighters. Moug is donating his film in an effort raise money for those families of our fallen HEROES!!! PLEASE...Support Moug and his visions. I do.
