'Shark Lake' is a thought-provoking thriller set in the serenity of Lake Tahoe. The serenity is shattered when a local exotic animal collector, inadvertently releases one of his most treasured exotics into the area. A local sheriff, Meredith Hendricks, makes it her mission to capture the "animal" and bring the exotic animal collector to justice. A course of unlikely events shifts the focus to the relationship between a mother and her son and a father and his daughter.
A classic american thriller where the lines between man and beast blur and are questioned.

Criminal Clint Gray (Dolph Lundgren) releases some sharks into a local lake before police officer Meredith Hernandez (Sara Lane) busts him. The officer feels bad that he has a young daughter so she adopts her and five years later daddy is released from prison and returns home. Before they can have any sort of reunion people begin getting killed by something in the lake.
SHARK LAKE could have been a more interesting movie but sadly it's yet another low-budget flick that just didn't have the money needed to make it more interesting. The biggest problem are the sharks, which look so fake that you're obviously not going to be scared by them. The other problem is that there's just not enough done with them to make the movie more entertaining.
I say that because we could have at least gotten a bunch of great shark attacks but that's not what happened. A lot of the times we see the "action" after it has happened. One woman gets attacked but we don't see the actual attack and instead we just see the aftermath. This here just didn't help anything and it certainly didn't help the entertainment value.
There were a few good things here. Lundgren is good in his role but you can tell that the producers probably couldn't afford him for an entire picture as his character pretty much comes and goes at times. I also thought Lane was very good in her role of the cop. There is one death that caught me off guard as you really just wouldn't think it would happen in a film like this but I will leave it at that.
It's not the worst movie ever made, but it may feature the worst CGI ever. At least movies like Sharknado don't take themselves seriously, and for that reason, they succeed in being entertaining at least.
Shark Lakes budget clearly went into paying Dolph Lundgren and while he's not exactly known for his acting abilities, this is probably the worst movie he has ever appeared in.
This movie has no humor, no likable characters and when you see the shark you will most likely want to turn off like I did. There is no reason to watch this movie, ever!
Do yourself a solid and just watch Jaws again if your looking for your shark fix!
