A group of martial arts warriors have only six days to save the Earth from an extra-dimensional invasion before the Elder Lords, the evil Outworlders wreak hell on Earth. Which is led by the mighty Shao Kahn, their gruesome goal is humanity's complete and utter extinction. But Earth's last and only hope is the mighty martial arts warrior Liu Kang and his ferocious friend fighters. They're all that stand between life and...annihilation!
The followup to 1995's blockbuster "Mortal Kombat" is as bad, if not worse than the original. The story is just unbelievable and the script is just plain bad. The actors are in some cases different, but in all cases doing a pretty bad job. There aren't any fancy ideas to save the movie and the special effects and camera work may have thought to been updated and better but they haven't. Nightmare of a movie that keeps the fans of the videogame interested enough but for everyone else, it flops. Incredibly bad film that would be better if it didn't exist. *
If you watched the movie once in a theatre, don't bother renting a video. Once was enough. As a great fan of the video game, I enjoyed watching the characters in the flesh. Good fun. The superb background music score was one of the high points of the movie. You should watch the the movie if you like the game.
Fragmented and monotonous, without a semblance of the gymnastic cleverness that at least made the first Mortal Kombat film into watchable trash, Mortal Kombat Annihilation is as debased as movies come.
