Mukashi Mukashi hitori no otoko wa shinimashita.
Once upon a time, there was a man who died.
Otoko no shigoto wa ohanashi sukute kataru koto deshita.
The man's work was to write and tell stories,
shinu sakamarimasen
but he could not defy death.
Otoko no saigou no hanashi wa usukushiku yukana ouji ga
The man's last story was about a brave and handsome prince,
waraishikoi okarasu taijisuru ohanashi deshita
Who vanquishes a crafty raven.
Keredo tatakai no keka wa kimasen.
But now, their battle will go on for eternity with no end.
"Konano Yada!" Okarasu sakebimashita.
"I'm sick and tired of this!" cried the raven.
"Konano yada!" Yukana Ouji mo sakebimashita.
"I'm sick and tired of this!" cried the brave prince as well.
Ogarasu hanashi no naka kara nigedashi
The raven escaped from within the story
Ouji sore mo oikakemashita
and the prince, in pursuit of the raven, did as well.
Soshite ouji wa jibun no shinso o tobidashi
Then, the prince took out his own heart
Kindan no shikara sukatte, ogarasu o fuishita deshita
and sealed the raven away by usinf a forbidden power.
Sonatoki "kore wa ii"
Just then, from somewhere, "This is great,"
Shida hasu no otoko wa dokorade subuyakimashita...
murmured the man, who was supposed to have died...
