A quick and easy fix for pdf thumbnail problem with Acrobat and Reader X. After installing Acrobat from CS5.5 on windows 7 x64 generating pdf thumbnails in windows explorer got broken, here's how i fixed that. PDF thumbnail view via the Acrobat reader:

On some thumbnails returned from Google Custom search for PDFs, the images are returned upside down and/or black and white. See attached. Not for all PDFs but for a significant number. I've looked at the original and it is definitely not black and white or upside down. I've searched extensively and found
Solution: One other thought, have you tried changing Folder Options (under the View tab) to always show icons, not thumbnails (or vice versa)?

Since upgrading to Windows 10 from 7, my PDF thumbnail icons often change to plain black and I have to right click/Refresh or Windowskey+F5 to change them back I believe this is because auto refresh.
Based on Creating JPG thumbnails from PDF causes problems with new version of ImageMagick I was able to answer this question by myself. If your want to apply this solution to Typo3, the following file changes are needed: Go to your Typo3 directory and open the file ./t3lib/class.t3lib_stdgraphic.php and
