28 Feb 2007 Unlike InDesign, in Illustrator, all Guides are locked. What if I have to select and move a Guide? How can I Unlock it? The key to unlocking Guides is hidden under the View menu > Guides > Unlock Guides. After the Guide is Unlocked, it can be selected and moved like any other Illustrator object.
Unlock it, select it with the move tool (or you could just 'meatball' it in the Layers palette) and hit Backspace . It's the layer options. If you right click on the layer the guide is on, and click layer options, there should be a checkbox that says lock guides.
