I have a Lexus IS200 (manual) and I have a problem with the gear selection. What I'm finding is I had the clutch changed in the summer and it has only started happening since then, but when I took it back to the garage they didn't really have any clue, but indicated that the gearbox may be on its way out.

The greatest forum for Altezza and Lexus IS200. Got the car home, and its making a squealing chirping noise when idling or driving when the clutch is not in. Clutch in and the chirp goes away. A touch of handbrake would load the gearbox input shaft and if the noise stops then its g'box and not clutch.

16 Nov 2012 My Lexus is200 sport , When i accelerate in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and a little in 4th gear there is a fairly high pitched whine which accends in pitch and volume as The noise stops as soon as I take my foot off the gas to change gear and returns as soon as start to accelerate again. it's a manual gearbox :burnout:.
