If I understand you correctly, exposure compensation is not needed in manual mode. If you want to under/overexpose a scene, you simply set aperture, ISO, or shutter speed to move the viewfinder needle to the left or right of center the amount you deem necessary. LOG IN TO REPLY

I am buying a T1i soon, and am thinking of giving this a try. So you are saying that you have to use manual focus, no auto, and manual aperture, and the camera will still set the shutter speed correctly to get the exposure right? Is the cheap adapter safe to use with the camera, it can't damage it at all?
Apr 2, 2011 I was out shooting some video today and I was so wishing that the T1i had manual controls but it doesn't. So I did some . I could change the exposure compensation which changed the ISO . I saw that when I pressed the shutter halfway down that it would give me the shutter speed and the aperture.
In manual mode, the shutter speed is controlled by the dial next to the shutter release button. Aperture is controlled by the same dial while the AV button on the back of the camera is pressed. ISO can be set by pressing the button on the top of the camera between the Mode Dial and the Shutter Speed Dial.
Nov 23, 2009 Setting Up and Shooting in Manual Mode. Turn the Mode dial to align the M with the indicator line. Select your ISO by pressing the ISO button on the top of the camera, and then turning the Main dial. Point the camera at your subject and then activate the camera meter by depressing the shutter button halfway.
