7 Jan 2011 Yes, the axle under the middle square has to be vertical. Your adjacent vertical and horizontal axles won't work because you have to use a gear assembly to change the direction of power flow. (Alternately, you can build a gear assembly under the windmill instead of an axle.)

So far, all I can do is put a pump stack next to a pool of magma or water and pump it with a dwarf. How can I pump it up to the with gears and axles? It would be great if someone could link a good Youtube video (With a tileset) or an online guide, I've been looking for a long time and can't seem to find one.
