What is the advantage of 6 speeds vs. 5? From what I've seen, the gear . in the learning curve between 5- and 6-speed manual transmissions.
Here is the sporty 6 speed vs the econo 5 speed. Notice how my like 0.50:1. In some transmissions 6th may not even be an overdrive gear.

The most obvious difference between a 5-speed and a 6-speed manual transmission is the number of speeds: A 5-speed has five different gears and a 6-speed
it's wierd that the Audi docs look like they favour the manual 5 speed for economy, but from a driving perspective I'd rather have the 6 speed
The difference I noticed between my older 5 speed and my 6 speed now is where on my dad 5 speed manual as well and they where different makes of cars also why Honda was an early adopter of five and six speed transmissions. In 5th, I probably am at 3500 RPM for crusing, versus 2500 in 6th.
I see members swapping out 5 speed trannies for 6 speeds. IIRC he had a transmission out of an e46 ZHP and a 3.91 rear end. . E46 M3s are much more common to part out, but manual 330i ZHP are quite hard to find.
