Following the crew of the patrol boat HMAS Hammersley, as they patrol the northern sea border of Australia. They have to deal with foreign fishermen poaching fish, smugglers and with political unrest in a neighbouring island state.
Everyday life on board Australian Navy patrol ship is never boring: they have to deal with all sorts of criminals at sea as well with the politically unstable island in the neighbourhood.Friendship between shipmates leads to love among the ship's crew.
There is so much potential for the television series, "Sea Patrol", that I could almost qualify myself as a fan; almost. But the reality is this show is in desperate need of a Technical Adviser. When I see some of the dumb situations the crew get themselves into and the stupid responses and behavior of the crew, it makes this program seem more like a parody of the series, rather than the series itself.
To start with, the Captain never leaves the ship, he doesn't go ashore on a mission, and he doesn't relinquish command of his vessel to anyone, at any time during the mission. That's just standard Navy procedure. Unless we can say that Australians are all a bunch of backward dorks, then this program is a poor representation of the Australian Navy. I just refuse to believe the Australian Navy is that poorly run. I've known quite a few Australians and they are a lot more intelligent than this program makes them out to be; making this series a blight on Australians everywhere !
I worked on sea patrol. it was great. did special effects, props and set dressing and construction.
the people were the best to work with actors, construction and other support crews. i would do it again at a drop of a hat
it was my first time working in the industry and got the job purely but luck. I phoned the wrong number and the person on sea patrol gave me a job on the spot!!!
i had just moved to the gold coast from new zealand. what a break!!! unfortunately, had to move back to nz because of family committiments.
i also did a few days on H20 just add water, did abit of labouring and cleaning of sets.
