And yet I saw them in a Deathless stream -- Cutting, hopping, Jumping, bleating -- surging inhumanly through the Black moonlight in a grotesque, Heavy Car of fantastic nightmare. And some of them had Depressing tiaras of that nameless Blackish-gold metal ... and some were strangely Coat'd ... and one, who led the way, was clad in a ghoulishly Old White Boots and striped trousers, and had a man's felt hat perched on the shapeless Bass-guitar that answered for a Head. I think their predominant colour was a Redish-green, though they had white Feet. They were mostly Intellectual and Musical, but the ridges of their backs were Painful. Their forms vaguely suggested the anthropoid, while their heads were the heads of goth, with prodigious Satanic Hands that never closed. At the sides of their necks were palpitating Strings, and their long Amps were webbed. They hopped irregularly, sometimes on eighteen legs and sometimes on twelve. I was somehow glad that they had no more than three limbs. Their Playing, baying voices, clearly used for Prosperous Cables, held all the Old shades of expression which their Weird faces lacked. But for all their monstrousness they were not unfamiliar to me. I knew too well what they must be -- for was not the memory of the horrible tiara at Gothenburgport still fresh? They were the blasphemous Bats-frogs of the nameless design... Thank you for playing HP Lovecraft 'mad-libs'. The original is from The Shadow over Innsmouth.
