A top shot model Diya (Amy Jackson) falls in love with Mr. Tamil Nadu Lingesan (Vikram), and together they become the most wanted model pair in the country. When Lingesan rejects an advertisement of a wealthy businessman (Ramkumar), who gave him the big break into ad world, he plans revenge against him. Now, he is joined by a greedy model (Upen Patel), lusty doctor (Suresh Gopi) and a trans-gender stylist who are out to cause massive damage to Lingesan's life which is worse than death. The rest of the story is how Lingesan takes revenge against these powerful people in the society.
A successful model's professional and personal life takes an ugly turn when he develops a hunchback due to an injection. He then plots revenge against the people who ruined his life.
The hard work of Vikram and Weta workshop to give the necessary outlook for the movie must be appreciated in director Shankar's '‪‎I'‬. Coming with a whole lot of expectations, the chances of I satisfying you completely is very less. Every ingredient Shankar uses to create a blockbuster is there to keep you engaged, but the shortage in dosage makes things less charismatic resulting in a good output rather than a fantastic output. When it comes to Shankar's usual style, we do get to see a social preaching part in the story. What makes I different from rest of his filmography is that this one does not have a society rectification agenda. However, because of that the story slightly loses its strength to impress the viewer. Those of you who could predict a possible story from the trailer and teasers, won't be surprised when things get revealed. In addition, some of the comedies, which are just there to increase the run time, will make it a bit itchy for you as we are expecting something that can be called as a magnum opus. Making wise Shankar has tried to make it the next best and up to a level, he was successful in making the movie in an uncompromising manner. Story as I said is less charming while the screenplay did a good job in building some interest. Unlike the other Shankar movies, there are not any great dialogues in this Vikram starrer. They might have claimed that visual effects are on the next level, but it does not feel much. Stunts are partially thrilling. Music and background score are in accord with the mood of the movie. Good cinematography from PC Sreeram, but at certain points the coloring was inappropriate. The art direction was also quite nice. Weta workshop's work for character looks was also fabulous. Well the star of the show is certainly Vikram whose effort definitely shows on screen. It is not just the physical transformation that makes his work stupendous one. That scene in the second half where the character undergoes this tragic transformation was heartbreaking and the reason was Chiyaan's acting which used the body language to perfection. He also shined as the illiterate body builder. Amy Jackson surprised me for sure by delivering a nice and tidy performance and I believe Shankar should be given the credit for getting the best out of her. Santhanam is there as the usual right hand of hero. Upen Patel, Ramkumar Ganesan, Ojas Rajani and Suresh Gopi did their respective roles nicely. Overall, I might disappoint you if the baggage of your expectation is heavy. It is definitely not a trash like Lingaa. At the same time, it

Shankar's much-awaited 'I' has finally released. The hugely ambitious project, is a magnum-opus, in all aspects. The visuals are dazzling & the action set-pieces might give Hollywood a run for their money. BUT, 'I' rests on an outdated plot. Despite it being stunning to look at, the film's narrative is been-there-seen-that! Considering the amount of money & effort that has been put up for the film, a better script was expected from Shankar!

'I' Synopsis: Lingesan, a deformed hunchback who was once a body builder and a handsome model, seeks revenge on the people who ruined his life.

'I' is an experience, in terms of pure eye-candy. The film is fantastically shot, each & every frame has been captured with pure passion. Be it the songs, the action-sequences, or even the fabulously done make-up, which is creepy to the core. Every aspect is flawlessly done. Sadly, 'I' isn't flawless, where it should've been - The Script.

We've visited vendetta fares time and again, and now it's getting tiring. 'I' begins astoundingly well, and the first-hour is good. The second-hour slips into utter predictability & watching the deformed hunchback hero take revenge on those, who unleashed hell on him, doesn't offer any novelty. Even though 'I' never bores you, the length of the film does hit you. At a 184-minutes, 'I' seems prolonged & broken in parts.

Shankar's Screenplay is fabulous, to an extent. However, as mentioned before, The main plot is full of clichés! His Direction, however, is nothing less than extra-ordinary. He has handled this biggie, with complete conviction. Cinematography captures the moments of romance & the moments of pure fright, well. Editing isn't merely sharp, the film needed some trimming. Action-Sequences are a knock-out. They are simply 'WOW'. Music by Oscar-Winner A.R Rahman is wonderful. Even the choreography of the songs, is brilliant. Make-Up is as real as it can get. Art & Costume Design are fair. Visual Effects are top-class.

Performance-Wise: Vikram breathes fire in his part. He's lovable as the bodybuilder, endearing as the model, and simply ferocious as the deformed hunchback. He puts up a power-packed performance & is the life of 'I', undoubtedly. Amy Jackson looks gorgeous & has some nice scenes with Vikram. Among the villains, Ojas Rajani as the trans-gender hairstylist, is reduced into a caricature, Upen Patel as the horny/conniving model, is menacing & Suresh Gopi as the doctor from hell, is first-rate. Santhanam contributes to some lights moments.

On the whole, 'I' is definitely worth a watch, but keep a check on your expectations.
