Set in the future and with the world plunged in economic crisis a new cold war with China, Britain's Ministry of Defence (MoD) is on the verge of developing the world's first artificially intelligent robotic soldier. The robot sounds and looks human but has amazing strength, speed, and agility. When the defense project gets close to completion, the AI controlled robot is pulled from the research and testing phase and thrust into military training mode. The child-like AI is traumatized by the transition, the way a pit bull puppy might be when brutalized for similar purposes. In a broad effort to preserve itself and those it has come to care about, the AI robot and a posse of cyborg veterans working within the MoD stage a lethal takeover of the research facility.

the tone of movie is sombre , but every scene shows hard work about every aspect of situation . I have watched serial person of interest , so know a bit more about the issue . All the practical aspects of human interaction with machine have been given deep focus . This is suitable for mature audiences who can relate the feeling & actions of humanoid . This is sci-fi so you have to believe the premises instead of doubting their possibility . Scenes have been shot cleverly to avoid nudity . The actress is charming with her voice . The hi-tech engineering is impressive . Characters are limited enabling a better focus on ideas about trust , teaching etc. The ending leaves you happy . scenes are not dazzling . Brief description already tells about dystopia . This is not mindless killing spree with visual effects genre . The tension that lies within is perceivable . If you are looking for thoughtful sci-fi then this is it.
This film is excellent in so many ways. It has this retro style feel yet is modern. The Machine achieves something unique these days and that is having the viewer care about the character.
If you have seen and liked fiction films from say 1970's to 90's and want to feel a lot of nostalgia factor, see this film just for that! Just the music and sound effects are retro and the mood the music sets is so cool to hear again.
I give this movie a 10 for keeping its style (It does not try to be something else or fit into the modern film mold, and the machine's acting (Caity Lotz) was excellent. She was in the dance flick and the arrow but nothing shows her talent like this film. Director mentioned he chose her for the physical abilities but honestly after this I can't imagine anyone else in the role. Well done, see it, if you hate on retro sci-fi maybe it will be eye opening.
Closer to “Her" in its musing on human/machine connectivity, while also incorporating the dystopian and action-thriller aspects of “Blade Runner" and its ilk, albeit on a much smaller scale, the pic will divide fantasy fans, some of whom will give it props for breaking somewhat from genre formula, while others will be disappointed by the largely budgetary limits of its imagination.
