I am looking for pro's and con's of a full length guide rod vs. the GI style short guide rod. I changed the FLGR from my taurus because it was a two piece and the head was loose although it was staked and having had a milled one-piece GI length from EGW on my Springfield, it made sense to swap it.

4 Jul 2006 I have a Springfield Loaded 1911-A1 with the factory 2 piece guide rod. I would like to replace it with the GI plug. I'd like the input of anyone who has done this. Do I have to use a different recoil spring or can I use the same one ? Second I've heard several different arguments about using a full length guide
