The nerd teenager Reed Richards has been researching teleport since he was a kid, helped by his best friend Ben Grimm.. During a high-school scientific fair, he is invited by Dr. Franklin Storm to join his research team in his institute in New York. Reed teams up with Dr. Storm's son and daughter Johnny Storm and Susan "Sue" Storm and the outcast Victor Von Doom and they succeed to send a monkey to another dimension. Soon they learn that the institute has an agreement with NASA to send astronauts to the other universe. However they decide to go by themselves to be the first humans to reach the place. However there is an accident and they are all affected by the power in the planet. Further, they achieve super-powers, but Victor is left behind. What will happen to the researchers?
Four young outsiders teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe which alters their physical form in shocking ways. The four must learn to harness their new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.
Sorry but this movie misses the mark big time. Compared to the 2005 Movie which was perfect, this one is just really bad.
The story is OK but not executed well. The characters are not as portrayed in Marvel. Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm, why? Political correctness gone mad. Johnny Storm was not a black man.
Kate Mara compared to Jessica Alba? Well there is no comparison really. And Ben Grimm is really just some overdone cgi, nothing compared to Michael Chiklis brilliant portrayal in the earlier movies.
The biggest question about this movie for me is why? Why was it made when the 2005 version got it so right?
By now, Hollywood should know to leave the Fantastic Four alone. I have seen them all up to date of this one, and they all have their major failings.
This take on Fantastic four is better than the others. That said, it didn't have to try hard in order to do that. The plot, for Fantastic Four (2015) is lacking in so many areas. It really feels like they used the chicken scratch left on a napkin during the concept stage.
Character development takes way to long in this film. Out of 106 minutes to this film, 40 minutes are dedicated to character back story. Yes back story. It's not until almost 50 minutes into the film that they actually get their powers. You can start this movie up from about the 50 minute mark and never miss 1 piece of important information.
The visuals for the movie looked great. Sadly even this is held off until after the first half of the movie. They actually did a decent job on the Thing this time around. Previous visions of the Thing outside the comic books were always lacking.
Something else I found a bit strange. The movie held a really dark undertone. I guess it's a good thing the plot never fully developed that.
The acting is solid. Is it award wining, no.
5 of 10. It's worth the watch at least once.
Ponderous, pretentious and, most damning of all, just not much fun.
