A couple moves to an isolated, modern, safe apartment building with CCTV after the wife has problems with nightmares. However, something's not quite right with the building.
A 32-year-old woman suffering from bipolar disorder comes to suspect the proprietor of the state-of-the-art ''smart apartment'' she and her husband just moved into is using the building's residents as unwitting guinea pigs for a ''synthetic telepathy'' brainwashing plot with dire global ramifications.

Despite Christina Ricci and John Cusack in the lead roles 'Distorted' feels like a cheesy tv movie and unfortunately it was. The plot was a mess, the perfomances were mediocre and the characters were badly written. Both Ricci and especially Cusack who has taken the Nicolas Cage way of things deserve better than this and fans of those 2? Will definitely be left disappointed in the end. (3/10)
The directing was the most redeeming part of this film. The concept was interesting but failed to deliver within the screenplay, particularly with it's slow pace, dragged out scenes, and convoluted plot issues. The constant depressing score created more aggravation than suspense. The characters were very bland, stale and robotic. John Cusack's character was overly sketchy and detracted form the overall film. His character would have been better cast with another actor. Had the producers chosen to tweak/edit the final cut, it could have shown better and perhaps held the viewers attention. I feel this film had potential, but the end result was distorted. It's a 6/10 from me.
