Those days.
They come and go
You hope
And you pray
That they'll stay away.
You're walking down the sidewalk
You get in a strangers car
The stranger is a creeper
So you jump out
That's life alright
Your mom.
Is pregnant
With a boy? I hope so.
You sneak out,
Message your mom
"Hey I'm going to a friends house"
It's a lie.
You get drunk?
High?
Why?
Then you try the forbidden
Sex.
Those needs for excitement
The need for something new
To do what you're not supposed to.
It's a thrill, it really is
But why do the reckless?
Attention.
That's the only reason I can think of
But probably not the only one
Just the obvious one.
I fear being forgotten.
To one day wake up
And no one remembers me
I go up to my mom
She looks at me,
As if I were a stranger.
I try to explain
I'm your daughter
But she just turns away...
Baby in hand
New things change everything
Sometimes they replace the old
Sometimes they add to the old
But the relationship between the owner
And the object is never the same
They come and go
You hope
And you pray
That they'll stay away.
