I would kill to have this as my neighborhood restaurant but will have to cross the country to dine here again. Where to lock it down: Omakase is on the menu at this tiny Clement Street restaurant, but Wako offers more than your average sushi restaurant. Second date, moderate: Absinthe is that perfect restaurant that fits into so many life occasions. Chefs Atsushi-san and Tomo-san send out a parade of Japanese small plates, like housemade sesame tofu and mountain yam with spicy cod roe, followed by sashimi, tempura, and dessert; the whole thing is an elegant study in textures and temperatures. A date night can be difficult to plan while on the road. Try Spruce for its food menu as well — burrata with market cherries, ricotta ravioli, and butter poached lobster should be just enough to make you and your date salivate. On the flip side, if all goes well, you can choose from a variety of small plates for best date night restaurants in san francisco. Come during the week when the wait list for the two first-come, first-served lanes is generally shorter. This rustic, chill spot offers some of Oakland's best food straight from the wood-fired hearth. There are plenty of snacks to order if you're hungry, or just grab some coffee and call it a date. This city is chock-full of surprises just waiting to be found, thanks to its proud individuality and unchecked quirkiness. Do you go the packed-and-expensive-restaurant route, or opt for something a little more low-key. Each can be paired with wine or a non-alcoholic beverage, and there's a regular menu of apps and entrees if you don't want to go full tasting. Customers are seated on a first-come first-serve basis, as the restaurant does not take reservations for regular meals, but brunch and large party reservations can be made online. But options in this neighborhood are limited, and you can get to know your date better over a drink before you're seated tip: head right across the street to. By and large, straight men subconsciously freak the fuck out in the Castro, no matter how liberal-minded they are. My only recommendation is some kind of card or menu to leave with the table that explains the different meats. And if the parklet is busy or resturants if it isn'tthe beach and its romantic walk potential is a mere three blocks away. Sip on champagne, slurp an oyster, and wow your date with your cool pick. Our cocktails were spot on, appetizers Dungeness crab and Japanese Kanpachi, were delicious. The staff are all well trained and attentive, everyone working in the dining room backs up all their fellow servers flawlessly. That may seem like a strange thing to restahrants since Alice Waters led the "local and seasonal" charge decades ago, but even the queen of California cuisine never embraced the title.Another huge draw is partner Shelley Lindgren's artful Sah wine list that the savvy servers will happily guide you through. The inside is not fancy - we were super over dressed - and feels like a chain.
