When an oil company unwittingly unleashes a prehistoric shark from its icy prison, the Jurassic killer maroons a group of thieves and beautiful young female college students on an abandoned piece of land. Unable to escape the fearsome beast, the two groups of strangers must put aside their differences and come together to fight off the extinct, ferocious monster while battling for their lives. What started out as some fun in the sun, ends up as a survival of the fittest as nature's cruelest creation has come back from extinction and he wants revenge!
To answer a posed question: No you are not supposed to take seriously. This and the many films like it (and this is a lessor in the Genre) are meant as Brain Dead Pop entertainment. It has no critical merit,it's story is not just improbable but is unbelievable. The acting is not over the top , it is overflowing. Yet as with the offerings in the genre it is what it is. There is an audience for this and those of the ilk. Many Grew up enjoying "Drive in" fare or Roger Corman films. These Low budget hi output offerings are just what they are simple brain dead entertainment that don't worry about continuity, believability and snobbish reviewers that can't just laugh at it or themselves. This movie, inside the Genre, is weak ,but, has a few satisfying moments and plays to its crowd well. I could have missed it and not felt a lose but the time was't wasted either. I will take a fun "Drive In" flick over an over blown Major studio turd that takes itself serious any day. Is this a contender for the award season? No, is it better than Jurassic Park 3? Absolutely..
The worst acting I have had the misfortune to witness in a very, very long time. In fact, I can't remember when I have witnessed worse acting. The dialogue is abysmal, the delivery stilted. The body language screams direction. The special effects are worse than those achieved in the mid-50s. I believe the only way this film could be enjoyed would be for the viewers to be in a heavily altered reality. To get the best out of this film, fast-forward to the final ten minutes - it's when the closing credits start - I think this is where the majority of the budget was spent. Only given a vote of 1 as no zero is available.
