Needs to have the rear ridge shaved/ balanced and surfaced post. Unless you own /work at a machine shop this is not $0 free in summary; sell e30 changeover as a kit; buy a e34 manual parts car for dirt and swap it all over. Don't reinvent the wheel, just do it perfect and it will cost you less in the big picture.

9 Aug 2009 I have an e34 525 and over the weekend I picked up an e34 535 parts car. The reason I did this is I want to convert my automatic to a standard and the 535 has a manual transmission. Now common sence says it should be a straight swap with additional parts adds in concideration for the clutch and stuff.
This car is wired more than a mobster's phone. Quite simply, with the car values as they sit and the increased number of manuals floating around, it is not worth it to do a manual swap on an E39. All told, a swap in an E39 takes more than triple the time it does on an E34 or E28 because of the electronics,

6 Jul 2012 The only thing you would need in addition to complete the swap are items that are best replaced with new: clutch kit, some fluid lines perhaps, master/slave cylinder, Donor car was a 1992 525 (can check sales receipt to confirm) with 150k miles with the preferable ZF 5 speed manual transmission.
