Excerpt from Wildlife in North Carolina, Vol. 13: September, 1949
Our purpose here is not to view with alarm the inroads on goose populations down through the years by greedy hunters and adverse conditions in the nesting grounds. It is rather to point out some interesting features in the life story of these birds as they are related to the North Carolina situation. As to the history of Canada geese, suffice it to say that they were once unbelievably abundant and are now somewhere near the threshold of Obscurity.
