Young hero Thomas embarks on a mission to find a cure for a deadly disease known as "The Flare".
This film tells the story of the survivors of a maze, who have to fight against a regime who held some of their friends captive.
This instalment has nothing to do with any mazes, and to be honest I find it rather disappointing. The plot is slow, overly sentimental and offer little engagement. Though I have watched the previous two films, I cannot quite recall what happened to the characters. Hence, the constant reference to the back story got me a little confused. In addition, the film is too long, and to make it worse, it does not know when to end.
Each film in this franchise goes down in quality from the previous one. This film is so confused about what it wants to convey and has no idea where to end but for those who liked the previous films, this is an essential ending.
The script is just so-so, but Ball’s directorial eye, clear in the first “Maze Runner" film though largely AWOL in the second, saves the third and final adventure from its own bloat.
