Kingpin).The first season sees lawyer-by-day Matt Murdock use his heightened senses from being blinded as a young boy to fight crime at night on the streets of New York City's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood as Daredevil, while uncovering a conspiracy of the criminal underworld being led by Wilson Fisk. In the second season, Murdock continues to balance life as a lawyer and Daredevil, while crossing paths with Frank Castle / Punisher, a vigilante with far deadlier methods, as well as the return of his old girlfriend - Elektra Natchios.I have enjoyed all of the marvel and DC based shows.....until now. I thought the Ben Afleck Daredevil was bad but this is just painful. I cant help but wonder if the good reviews are for arrow or the flash and left here by mistake , its just bad. I started this after I finished the new episodes of agents of shield , flash , gotham , and the arrow , after the others I had great hopes for Daredevil but after 2 episodes I almost wish I was blind.........and deaf. This show might be good some day as rifftrax or mst3k fodder if mst3k comes back but as a stand alone show it does not cut it. If I can not an alternative I may be forced to actually start reading books.Daredevil has always been a character that I've enjoyed in the comics but never been a massive fan of, however, the first series convinced me that done correctly a superhero series could really bring a character to life and they certainly did that with this series. Whilst a slow burn (the first four episodes take patience to get through) once it gets into its groove the remainder of the series is exciting storytelling at its best. Charlie Cox completely nails Daredevil and Vincent d'onofrio is superb as the Kingpin. And then series two came to be featuring my favourite comic book character The Punisher. Series two just kicks straight into the action and the story arc of bringing the Punisher into being is excellent. Jon Benthal is just brilliant. He brings the punisher straight out of the Garth Ennis series of Punisher Max comics and onto the screen. The Punisher is exactly as the comics portray him. Even when the series comes close to making him appear soft they go straight back to what the essence of the punisher is. The direction is excellent, the plot is taught and never leaves you wondering about what's going on. If you're a fan of Daredevil or the Punisher, I highly recommend watching this show. Even if you're not a fan then there's still an awful lot to enjoy about this series.Yes, it takes place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) with such films as Iron Man (2008), Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), The Incredible Hulk (2008), and The Avengers (2012), as well as the TV shows Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013) , Agent Carter (2015) and Jessica Jones (2015). As well as upcoming series Luke Cage (2016), and Iron Fist (2017).
The show also makes several references to the Avengers film. Such as "after new york was destroyed", or "unless he has a suit of iron or a magic hammer".
Ben Urich's office also contains framed newspaper covers featuring the events in The Incredible Hulk and The Avengers. Season 1 has been confirmed to take place three years after The Battle of New York. Stick enlists Matt's help to destroy "Black Sky," a weapon that the Japanese mafia, led by Fisk's associate Nobu, are bringing into New York. Matt agrees on the condition that Stick restrain himself from killing anyone, but Stick breaks his promise when it is revealed that Black Sky is a young boy being held in a shipping container with chains around his neck and limbs. Stick fails to kill Black Sky while at the docks with Matt, but later says he killed the boy further up the road. Stick does not go into detail but says that the boy was more than "just a boy" and that Matt would have sensed this had he not been emotional at the moment. Black Sky is not a term previously found Marvel Comics so there is no clear parallel to be found there at this time. What exactly the boy named Black Sky is and how exactly he is a weapon is not revealed as of the first season of Daredevil, and any fan theories are pure speculation. In season 2; Elektra is revealed to be the Black Sky.
