Trying to survive the family Christmas, Cody makes a wish to be alone, which ends up backfiring when a shark manifests and kills his entire family.
Cody is an aspiring comic book artist who happens to be gifted a pen which changes reality, as he first draws Santa Jaws making it come to life as Cody's family and friends are picked off . First no one believes him but soon his remaining family and friends find out it's true and race to battle for survival! Who will win?!
Since there are a million shark movies out there with similar plots and differing number of shark heads, this one was a nice change of pace. It was campy of course but the acting was pretty good, and the plot actually made a bit of sense (how the shark came into existence, what attracted it, what would hurt it, etc). I've watched it a couple of times....good...especially for the overused shark premise.
The concept of the film makes it obvious it shouldn't be taken seriously and once that is realized it's actually a fun entertaining film. The acting was pretty good from everyone and the film's lead Reid Miller (Play by Play, A Girl Named Jo) carries the film nicely.
The emotional moments of the film came off as genuine and there's definitely some laugh out loud moments. I actually wouldn't mind a sequel to it (as long as it doesn't go on too long like the Sharknado films) and i'll definitely be adding it to my playlist of Christmas movies this year as well.
If you like cheesy but entertaining movies definitely check this one out!
