As far as climbing guidebooks go, this is a necessary one for the area -because it's the only one for the area. The inherent quality of the guidebook is sub-par. I find it lacking in good directions, photos are labeled wrong, descriptions are vague or nonexistent. Height is one variable for the cliffs that is seldom mentioned.

The Holcomb Valley Pinnacles are located just north of Big Bear Lake in the eastern end of the scenic Holcomb Valley, an area rich in history and diversions for the outdoor enthusiast. Popular for it's numerous sport routes, this area is a moderate mecca with 75% of the 400+ routes being 5.10 and under in difficulty.
The trailhead to get to the Holcomb Valley Pinnacles is where the dirt road ends at the "Climbers Camp". From the trailhead to the pinnacles is an easy hike, less than mile.
