In Glenview, Ohio, Evan is the manager of the Costco department store and married to Abby. When the Costco night watchman, Antonio Guzman, is mysteriously murdered, Evan organizes The Neighborhood Watch, a watch team with his suburban neighbors Bob, Franklin and Jamarcus to protect the neighborhood and find the killer of Antonio. Soon they discover that the murderer is an alien that is preparing to invade Earth, and they become the last hope of mankind on Earth.
Four men who form a neighborhood watch group as a way to get out of their day-to-day family routines find themselves defending the Earth from an alien invasion.
'The Watch' really surprised me because Ben Stiller films can be a hit or a miss, this one was a hit. Usually his best performances are the ones where he ridicules himself (Tropic Thunder and Dodgeball being good examples), his other films can be funny but you always find yourself comparing them to the two other films I just mentioned.
The script was pretty much Men In Black but for a slightly older audience; there was a lot more comedic gore and vulgarity here but it worked well. The jokes were really funny, the various sequences worked well and the film genuinely made me laugh.
The performances are probably what made this film so funny. Vince Vaughn really surprised me as it's been a while since I've seen perform as well as he does here. Both he and Jonah Hill definitely give the best performances in the film. Jonah Hill is really funny here but he needs to be around the right crowd to be funny. Richard Ayoade gives a great performance here but I fear he will be type-cast into this role over and over again in the future. However, he does perform well and hopefully is seen in some more feature films. Ben Stiller unfortunately isn't fantastic here; he plays the average man here and is supposed to be the normal one amongst a group of odd ones. I don't know why he is put in roles like this because he is clearly capable of so much more.
Overall, 'The Watch' is really funny and may signify the revival of Hollywood comedy that '21 Jump Street' hinted towards. I really hope more films as funny as this come out because this has shown that it is still possible to make hilarious pictures.

Wow, I'm saying "wow" because this movie was different. Overall, I felt like this was a descent film. I liked it and I enjoyed. This film was an entertaining wrecking ball filled with comedy, laughter, and hilarious thrills. This comedic film was so different and that's one of the main reasons I enjoyed this film. Not to mention Ben Stiller, Jonah Hill, and Vince Vaughn is this movie. When I seen that these three guys were in the movie there was no way I wasn't going to see this film. Jonah Hill and Vince Vaughn were the funniest out of the four main characters.
Good film, Good acting, crazy plot (loved that about the film), so I'm giving it a 7 out of 10. If you need a good laugh and you're a fan of any of the main characters in this film it would be worth seeing it in the movie theaters. Enjoy the film and I hope you enjoyed the review.
