Alltså, lol. Klad woody!
'Any decent review of Sweden’s This Is Not A Game Of Who The Fuck Are You (TINAGOWTFAY) should start with the obvious: they have no genre. The only semi-accurate comparison would be to Between the Buried and Me, but even this is about as accurate as it isn’t, since TINAGOWTFAY is what BTBAM might have been, had that illustrious band had more of its roots in hardcore. However, TINAGOWTFAY has as much in common with hardcore as a genre as they do any other, resembling neither end of the spectrum. Technicality and genre-fusion are the name of the game, with a supremely heavy sensibility that just as easily escapes trite description.
TINAGOWTFAY released their debut, masterwork of an album, “101010," on the date of the same, and its thirteen songs sweep the listener quickly between tempos, styles, waves of emotion, and visceral reaction. While the guitars have certain hardcore-tinged tendencies, like breakdowns and dissonance-featuring moments of two-step, there’s also an overall metal vibe apparent in the fretwork that, depending on the specific moment, could fit in with nearly any given band of the metal scene. Melody exists as an obviously-intentional counterpoint to the dissonance and brutality brought by TINAGOWTFAY, as they deliver some touching and surprisingly beautiful melodic moments, even dipping slightly into the realm of the acoustic. Vocals are harsh and guttural, but they stay fairly consistent over the record, lending a certain sense of coherence and dependability to the album.
The humor of the band, if not evident in their name, can be seen on the “One Last Dance" track that they claim to be some sort of popular hit (where? when?): it starts out with a techno-esque dance theme that quickly introduces a screamed ska-style verse with a post-hardcore chorus, adding other elements in between. Although an odd songwriting choice, it seems to fit with the band’s style, once enough time has been devoted to understanding them. Their true power, however, is fully demonstrated on “Inter-Gender Wrestling Champion of the World", which is heavy, anthemic, technical, and dissonant, showing that they can surprisingly write a song that follows some semblance of common order or form and still manage to be in a world entirely of their own.
This Is Not A Game Of Who The Fuck Are You is the answer to the question everyone’s been asking without realizing it: where’s the genre of melodically dissonant and technical death metal-inspired post-hardcore hardcore? On the day of 10/10/10, the world found their answer.'
Helt insane första recension xD
